Two rows are better than one! The original idea was to supplement the home row (tone) with a companion row (fourth) to facilitate playing in both directions and to add a second key. Modern boxes typically include accidental notes to play in additional keys or helper rows for ease of play. The most common keys and playing traditions are C-F (German), G-C (French) , D-G (Engish), A-D (Irish), and Bb-Eb (Latin).
