The Anglo Concertina Music of Scan Tester
This book of 45 Anglo concertina transcriptions is the musical companion to the 2024 reprint of Reg Hall’s definitive 1990 biography of Sussex musician Scan Tester – I Never Played to Many Posh Dances (Rollston Press).
Since the original 1990 biography of Scan Tester was published in conjunction with a double LP album on Topic Records, now sadly out of print, this book includes scannable QR codes linked to audio on YouTube.
Although the old village traditions of busking and stepdancing have mostly given way to more modern musical entertainments, this book will allow you to travel back to that earlier time when local musicians provided self-made music for listening, singing, and dancing pleasures in village gatherings, special events, and of course, village pubs.
